Ok first the parasites. Perhaps im not using the prazi right but heres my prob. Months ago i treated my ray for parasites w/ prazi for 1 week because i ran out and didnt have enough for 2 weeks like i wanted to do. I did a 40% wc and added the prazi..waited 3days did another wc and added back the amount for the water i took out..3 days later i did the same thing. Then i ran out. I thought it might have worked because i was no longer seeing the little worm lookin things but in late feb i saw them again. I got more prazi and treated the tank again..same way but for 2wks. The ray poo was starting to look solid again and No more worms..until today..:irked:..So what is the deal? Obviously im doing something wrong or perhaps these things are not affected by prazi. Dont know if thisll help at all but theyre white and they look like little hairs about 1/4in long or so and they just squiggle thru the water. Ideas??
Now the injury..i made the mistake of putting a small senegalus in w/ my ray and he bit the end of the rays tail (he was removed after i saw that). Sometimes the rays tail gets irritated at the end because of hrs of goin up and down in the bubbles and coming down on the tail so i just put salt in and it gets back to normal pretty quickly. This time its white and doesnt really seem like its healing. I put salt in and hes acting normal but im afraid theres gonna be some sort of infection or something if it doesnt heal up. Its been a couple weeks now so am i worried for nothing or is there something more i should do?
Sorry for my rambling but just thought id put it all out there at once..

Your parasite is not a parasite, it is planaria, indicates you are not doing enough water changes and not cleaning the tank etc enough.
Guppies ( wild type, not the fancy type) or some similar fish will eat them.
Post your water parameters and your water change schedule.

hehe, was thinking the exact same thing. Change more water, maybe cut a little down on food, seems like there is stuff laying after the ray\fish is done eating.

these little critters hide mostly, but when you treat with prazi it seems to kind of irritate them and they come out in droves, especially if you have sponge filters. perhaps your filter could also use a rinse ( use tank water NOT tap for this) wipe down the glass inside the tank etc

Ook thanks. Yeah they look like the ones swimming in the video. So these will not affect any of my fish then? Where exactly do they come from? Do i need to tear the tank down to get rid of them? I was running 4 filters on the tank and took down 3 of them and cleaned everything w/ tank water and set up an FX5(also running a fluval 405) then the next day i started the prazi. That was a few weeks ago. My tank is a 155gal bowfront w/ large grain sand. I do at least 30-40% wc every week and most weeks i do two and i vac the sand everytime. Ive never given him feeder fish but I do leave a small piece of shrimp in the tank for the bottom feeders since they seem to like it but i try to get it out before it gets nasty. Though i will admit ive missed some before. I just did a wc last night so ill go test the water and put the results up when i get em.
