just got a new marble motoro it has the same thing two other marbles of mine have. they are flat dark brown to black. the other two that i have i have noticed no signs of growth, movement, or reproduction of these things. i had a thread in the past little response and know one knew what it was. now that i have three that have this now and the recent symposium that i regret not going. i thought i would bring this up again. i have tried prazi, salt no luck i am trying dimilin and salt on one ray now. here is a pic hope it helps.

i think that jungle parasite guard is metronidazole and praziquantel witch i have tried the pazi and i think metro is close to the same.

i am stumped day one and the mystery parasite is still attached. i might try a salt bath at 2% for 15 min if dimilin is not effective

thanks Nic

How can you tell there are parasites in it's gill slits?

well thats just it i am not 100% sure but i do know it is not just a dark colored gill slit. i am leaning toward a leech of some type they don't move around on the body so maybe it is nice big opened wound and they are getting what they want.

both of my new marbel also have..but on a close look ..looks like it is their skin color .not a fungus or parasite..

thats what i was going to say... a few of mine have a single gill slit that is discolored but they deff dont have a parasite....

From looking it up on google. the only thing i see that would cause a Gill infection would be Lice. When they multiple that attach their selves to the gills and breed.

I'm not for sure but it might be something to look at.

Good Luck, I'll look at my TeaCup when i get home and see what it looks like.

well if it is just a coloration of the fish its color is coming from the inside of the gill slit not the out side i will look at them again when feeding tonight. what was discussed at the symposium lice, bacterial infections, and fungal infections?
