So 2 days ago i notices those parasites that too many polypterus owners have had to deal with :(
I read through the threads here and the Primer sticky and found out that most success has been with the Parasite Clear med.
Unfortunatly thats not available around here but someone said that he did good with Seachem ParaGuard, which was available here and i bought it.

I treated the tank with 1/2 a dose, as the Primer said that the Malachite Green (which is in ParaGuard) should be dosed 1/2.

The instructions say that i should use the med once a day, as required.
This med is not Formalin based, does not include methanol, does not alter PH and is supposed to be "fish and filter safe"
I put in 1/2 a dose yesterday, and another 1/2 today.
I havent seen any result yet, but if the ParaGuard will not work after 4x 1/2 doses, i think i will try a formalin based med.

Just wanted to share the pic with you:

all advice welcome!

in my 2 years of bichir hobby never had an sickness and GL

The Seachem ParaGuard didnt give any results...

So i bought a med i had heard good things of: Sera Tremazol, which is Praziquantel.
I had to pay ~100$ for a 100ml bottle of it !!!
But since my Polypterus in this tank are worth more than 10x that i think it was worth the try... I lowered the water level in the tank so i didnt have to use as much of the med and i got plenty left which i will use to bath my future Polypterus in before adding them.

I added the Tremazol and within an hour 99% of the worms are gone!
The treatment is 6hour long, but then i will have to carry out a 80% water change.

You couldnt believe how happy i am with this results :D

The treatment is over, 6 hours after i put the Tremazol in i did a 80% water change.
All worms gone!

Some of the polypterus still dont look too good but im hoping they will get better in the next few days :) Some of them got cloudy eyes along with the parasite, weird because the water quality had always been good. I am sure that it will go away very soon.

Good to hear. They look nastier than they are. Good thing they are easy to get rid of.
