Life has been busy so I have not been posting much.. but I have some new stuff I wanted to share... I was down at The Big Fish Deal and happened upon something I had never seen before... Piebald Fenestratus! I do not usually dabble to much in Central Americans but they caught my eye and since I never saw them before I had to grab a pair... they are still young fish so hopefully the seller was correct on sexing.. but only time will tell that. Anyone else keeping them? I would love to see pics

Sorry for the crummy pics but they are a bit shy still

Piebald fenestraus are a naturally occurring variant in Lago Catemaco Mexico.
Don Conkel did an article in TFH mag way back in the late 80s, after he caught a number of them in the lake.
He also had a page in his book Cichlids of North and Central America about them.

Awesome! I did not know if it was a line bread mutant or natural... I wonder if i can find a link to the article....

I think the fish that ChuckSon_NB ChuckSon_NB is selling are from the piebald fenestratus that were in Australia several years ago rather than the Lake Catemaco pink fenestratus that Duane is describing. I know there was a thread on MFK a while back. I'll try to find it.

I was looking at the piebalds as well, but actually picked up a pair of the catemacos from Jeff Rapps at the BFD.

The Aussie ones are most definitely "different".
