Paratilapia Bleekeri Eggs hatching

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It has been a little over two weeks since your original post. I'm interested in breeding Bleekeri as well and was wondering on a couple of questions posted earlier.

1. Have you ever allowed the pair to raise the fry prior to deciding to use a tumbler? Or are they in a community tank?
2. How difficult was it to get the batch of eggs into the tumbler?
3.How are the fry now? What have you been feeding them?

Hi sorry i havent replyed, been away for a week
thanks for your kind comments
To answer your questions, my 1st batch of fry i left with parents and got eaten just before hatching, 2nd batch of eggs i didn't not want to risk so removed and hatched in tummbler as the parents move the eggs all the time and roll them constantly so wanted to recreate this movement. i managed to raise 4 fry (losing alot due to my inexperience of these fish).
This batch i must have got 200 odd fry which i have halved and all are doing well with occasional loses and abit of cannibalism going on.
The eggs are on a long string all bundled up and parents went crazy at me when i tryed to remove them but i picked them up with a yogurt pot kept then submurged in water at all times and placed in tumbler to keep them moving.
old photo of 2nd batch of eggs, you can just about see end of string

eggs seem hardy and easy to hatch. took 3 days for them to swim due to heavy egg sacks still attached. Now are eating crazily 5x a day with bbs and zm100
update on fry at 3 weeks

They seem to lay straight after water change with softer water being added at a cooler temp and airation upped.
Would love to see parental skills of this pair so next time i will leave eggs but paratilapia are known for being avid egg eaters
