yeah same thing happened to me.... i got a great deal on a 100g tank (my first monster) and it had stand canopy fish decor EVERYTHING for 400. i was gonna pay for it all and take care of it and my parents said yes!... then a week later, my dad forbid me from getting it..... :Cry:

just save your money and wait. that way you can get a huge tank when you have your own place or room. i wouldnt get one hoping that you can take it to college with you, i know alot dont allow you to even have a fish tank at all.

I dont know what to say I am in college and I live at home, I ve been back in the hobby from 10th grade in hs untill now. My parents have been pretty supportive of my hobby as long as I pay and take care of everything =]. I will be moving out in the next year, year and half to attend a university and will be taking my tanks with me, a total of 4 (one is a bearded dragon tank). I will also be living off campus and not in a apartment so I am able to take them with me. My parents did limit me on my tanks but allowed me to get them and supported it. She figure it is also better that I buy the tanks I will really need for my larger fish now and for everyone when they have to be sperated b/c I would be unable to buy them once I move out. I got a 150 for my frontosas and a 55gal for my cyps and neolamps. I will have another 55 for my bearded dragon and a 10gal with my lamps. I have everything I need for all my tanks so I am good to go (as long as nothing brakes). Its tough when you move out. In 3 years, yes def. save money but the I dont think a cheap tank would affect it that much as long as you can take your tanks with you and have a plan for it. =] anywho good luck!

i have my 29 in my dorm
the tank set up is dif now but you get the idea...where the tank is WAS my study area lol now i have to put my laptop under my bed when i study, or pile stuff on top of it. Get an apt when you go to school if at all possible that way u can take all ur stuff!

Its unfortunate Mom doesnt want to let you pursue the hobby but its her house her rules.Itll give you time to dream of the fishroom you can build when you get your own place.
