Perhaps he froze himself until they had reached adulthood. That seems like the only logical reason as to how he isn't in a straight jacket yelling about insane things in a mental hospital at the moment.

I have friend who is one of 21 (one mother, one father.), and a few others who come close. Hasidic Jews have big families. It's just a different lifestyle. It's all about your expectations vs. reality, not how many kids/siblings/parents/how much money/etc. you have.

Boys leave home for dorming schools at 13, and girls marry at 18-20.
(Not a good rule for all Hasidic Jews, but 6 kids is a small family, many boys leave home for highschool, or at least towards the end, and anyone over 25 who isn't married is pitied.) Having and raising kids is an integral part of Judiasim, extramarital sex, or even talking to someone of the opposite gender is frowned upon.... I can't explain to someone who's not in it. I'm 1/2way in it & I don't fully get. (Will be a problem 'cuz I will need to get married soon LOL)
We talked to our daughters when they decided to become sexually active. We talked to our doc and insurance payed for nore plants, this when they where 15 and 16. nore plant is placed under the skin in the uper arm, time released for 3 years.
