Paroon shark rescue!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Would make sense as the water in the tank it was in was about 6" from the top and only had a small internal filter in the tank, really hope the big guy pulls through! Will keep on top of the daily water changes and see how he does.

Grab some Furan2 along with kanamycin if you can, works really well for external stuff and is mild

It could be that the move was harsh, the water switch too much so he is very stressed.

I know of two cases where a large paroon perished after going from being very long term in bad water to good. So this can happen. At least on the surface, it looked like that.

It could be that he hit the glass so hard in your tank that his eyes got cloudy. Cloudy eyes can be due to poor water as well as bacterial infection too.

The whiteness is strange. Not a normal symptom unless a picture can clarify what you mean.

Stunting does not prevent growth but diminishes the max size. He might grow to 3' instead of 5' and might do so quicker than normal (the growth "energy" suppressed before may be released explosively).

FYI, paroons are very highly predatory, unlike IDS. If he survives and thrives, he will destroy your current stock, chances are.

I've had a paroon turn white when i tried using blue lighting in my aquarium, turn off your lights and his colour should go back to normal, also keeping the tank dim will help him settle quicker. As long as there is no infection present, in decent quality water the wound will heal quickly. Paroons are tougher than many people give them credit for, keep the water quality up and odds are the paroon will sort itself out. Good on you for the rescue, try keep away from aquarium salt and medicate very lightly if at all.

Thanks for noticing, Krich! I am interested in an update. Probably will have to PM the OP.
