i was wondering about the parot cichlids, i believe there a hybrid anyway petsmart has them and i think there kinda cool, anyone have any info???

cool fish with great personalities
i have 2 of them in my 75 gal
i love them how big are the ones at petsmart

blood parrots are hybrids of red devil/midas and severums

there is a true parrot cichlid though, which is not a hybrid

the links danepatrick posted are about the hybrids

i been wrong in my life 20 millions times... anyone have a PIC of the so called TRUE Parrot cichlid?

Pets smarts are bloodparrots $12.99

I'd personally avoid them if they are blue, purple, green, bright red or yellow. these are typically the color of dyed parrots which usually won't live for very long. there are exceptions of course but undyed parrots are much healthier. I disagree with 1 adult parrot in a 29 gallon though. they can get rather large (8" if not slightly larger) and imo would need a larger tank once they reach adulthood. I'd go for a 40 long or 55 and you should easily be able to keep 2-3.
