Parrot Cichlid (hybrid)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
severums arent really known to hybridise. there was a thread here before where somebody bred midas and redheads and some of the babies came out with parrot bodies. i beleive this is the acidental discovery of the parrot cichlids parental lineage.
maybe they cross them back to midas to get such bright colours or whatever.

but yes ive seen that severums can pair up with other fish and it would be interesting if they had firtile young but ive never seen or heard of any real examples of severum hybrids

I've seen parrots that grow to 12 in, they call it king kong parrot. I believe they have different parent compare to normal parrot fish.:)

King Kongs = Parrot x Red Devil usually.

weird i have a 4x 1.5 bp and its really red. do they turn orange or are they gonna keep the red color.

i find with parrots that the colors lighten or darken as they grow, cause i bought 2 babies (still had the convict cichlid stripes) 5 years ago when they grew they were the same orange for a while but one went dark orange and the other went closer to yellow. one of them died last year so i just got a baby kilin to replace it.

This is a parrot flowerhorn hybrid and it's mine lol

I've had parrots for years...they can come in a variety of non-dyed colours ranging from almost white to a very deep coral pink color. Here are some of mine. None are dyed

Sparky - Very nice orange, is bigger and older now, still has great orange coloration

Bubbles - She was pale when I got her as a juvenile and still is a more muted pale orange

Coral - She is a "blood" parrot and is a deeper pink colour

Deja Bleu - He looks a lot like a gold severum to me - has the same yellow tipped tones to him and doesn't have as domed of a head as most of my parrots. Also has blue eyes.

I have my eyes on a 5" orange with black splotches as well - not the black stress spots you see at times on them, but a true splotched coloration. He is very neat.
