Parrot lineage

Parrot lineage is male syn x female Midas, or male syn type x female amph type (high % blood).

By skkp I assume you mean "mammon".
The fade gene they carry is incredible, at least 7-10x as potent as regular parrots. However, as they are essentially a different species, the yield of viable, good looking fish from this cross is minimal.

My advice would be to keep any fish that carry the body shape and ideal colors of the father, and cull the rest.

If you get any parrot types, cull them
as well. My experience indicates there is a very good reason that Asian breeders cull these so called "Kirin parrots". They are associated with too many deformities. Trust me, you don't want to sell these. If you are raising them for personal enjoyment, just know that you are risking raising a fish that eventually succumbs to an organ rupture, or other congenital defect.

Modifying the body type is very dangerous done in this random way.
You can either raise many generations to adulthood to screen for defects, and in years produce viable parrot shaped offspring, or you can cull everything but the body shapes that are known to be healthy.

I know how it can be to raise a fish for years, only to have it succumb
to a defect. You shouldn't have to do this unless you are dedicated enough to do so.
Yes I don't see the hype of parrots when I first saw them I thought they were ugly and deformed. Well read up on them too many issues ranging from sterile to organ issues.

Once again you do realize you own fish decended from parrots right. And I think kaliedoscope is talking about parrot looking fish from parrot crosses. Not BP in general.

Well I did hatch out about 100 fry on Sept 19th. I was out of town a few days later and missed where they started free swimming. I had nobody around to feed them.
Anyway here it is one month later and I have about 40, one half inch fry. As far as body type, they look normal with some being deeper bodied than others. But again I'm guessing body type will change as they mature.
All I'm looking for IS bonsai body and color type fish. I'm hoping to get at least one female worthy of putting back to the father. Bonsai are pretty much unheard of in my area and I was totally surprised to stumble across this male. I'm finding female flowerhorns in general are tough to find too. Good quality ones anyway.
Yes. The female is mammon. A friend imported a bunch of fry several months ago.
