I should have stopped with my african gray because nothing compares.. he is like having a 2 year old kid in the house.:D

[QUOTEi don't own any large birds, but i think the hyacinth macaws are pretty cool.][/QUOTE]

With the Hyacinth Macaw there's nothing small.
But yes they are awesome parrots. They are a incredible beautiful and attractive species. The largest of all parrots. Hyacinths are called "Gentle Giants" by most breeders. Referring to their very affectionate & lovable nature.

They are very pricey - running in the $ 8,000-12,000 range(depending on the breeder. Also Adult Hyacinths can destory cages that many consider to be "macaw proof", and are known to be master lock pickers.

found this video^

i want one!.. anyone know how hard it is to train these parrots..? which are easier than others?

I have an Einstein{african gray like the film, and a white big cockatoo.. and a conure.......... i should have had all africans........... they are simply the best.. no noise..{the others scream at the top of their lungs once in awhile which can really get on your nerves ..especially if it is in the middle of a nice dinner with company.. :grinno: so you cover them .. but the gray..you want to bring out and introduce... haha.. in the background you can hear him giggling from the laughter of the people.. he just heard this video and started making comments.. he is awesome with his songs and asking you for a cookie, asking you to come out of his cage, telling you goodnight... and the one funnyiest is when i am putting on my makeup to go out.. he asks me "Are you ready" I say "don't rush me":grinno: But the one key note about the africans is that you must be slow moving quiet kind of person.. because they are so smart they would get nervous with too much going on..they absorb but need to be relaxed.. They are simply the best...

sound like my kind of parrot.

My uncle keeps different Macaws, which are very fun... to start with, i imagine its different living with them.:nilly: Are parrots hard to breed, because my uncles have only ever had one chick, and not one since.
