On a serious note, the US military is searching the area debris was located for the black box.

very soon from what I hear.. it's getting to the point they are probably just going through the motions on the hope that they get lucky

transponder pings I believe , is what he is talking about..

Yes, the black box. From what I heard it would ping for 2 weeks after a crash.

in theory..yes..they should work,from what I have heard.they may not be detectable if the plane is in real deep water.. or they have somehow been disabled..I really don't know how accurate this info is ..

Supposedly we're flying this radar above a specific area trying to pick it up

yes , i believe the transponder is part of (or entirely) the "black box", and the 30 days seems to ring a bell
