Hard to say without pics, but I have Archocentrus Spilurus(blue eyed Cichild) and they look alot like your description. Look like cons as juvies but progress to one of my favourite fish, good looking, good natured..... well better than normal cons. My pair are stunning, male at approx 6 inch with long trailing fins and a stunning colouration and the female is so cute with great personality and they breed like cons, so win/win.
Could they be these, do you trust the LFS ?
Like to see a pic if possible, look forward to more info.

LFS nearby sold cons that match that description. They were called ice blue, or something like that and were about $30.
I'll try to get some pictures next time I go to this place. I'm sure they'll be there. Hey Mudjimba, can we see a picture of yours?
