the figure 8 skid marks were there from previous cars, not this wreck.
It's sad that they died, BUT no matter how famous/popular Walker and Roda were, there's no justifying, nor glorification that is appropriate for driving like that on a public street posted for 45mph.

That doesn't even sound "road safe" at legal speeds! Give me a 4WD any day, but don't limit vehicles' acceleration abilities. that comes in handy for passing ;-)
