The news is trying to say they were only going 40 mph. I seriously doubt that was a 40 mph crash. They want everyone to believe they were going the speed limit. If that is true, how did they crash then? I don't think you can produce those figure 8 skid marks and hit trees with so much force that it splits the car in half only going 40 mph.

How fast was the tree going?

the figure 8 skid marks were there from previous cars, not this wreck.

It's sad that they died, BUT no matter how famous/popular Walker and Roda were, there's no justifying, nor glorification that is appropriate for driving like that on a public street posted for 45mph.

.... "a memo sent from Porsche to several dealers in the Midwest in 2004 before the car went on sale.... firmly outlined how sensitive the car was to basic road conditions (pot holes, objects in the road, etc.). It even stated that the car could "not run over a Foster beer can lying on its side." Basically it was practically a racecar with all of the disadvantages attached to it."
That doesn't even sound "road safe" at legal speeds! Give me a 4WD any day, but don't limit vehicles' acceleration abilities. that comes in handy for passing ;-)

Maybe they forgot and left off the 1 before the 40.

Porsches with mid engines in general are sketchy as hell on the street. Had two friends total theirs. I almost wrecked one myself and got lucky (just a base 2009 911 too). Don't forget Ryan Dunn of Jackass fame also died in a wreck while driving his.

I haven't seen any reporting of them going 40. only that the posted speed is 45, and that pole was ran over, laying by the wreck.

and the driver was brown.

but no mention that Walker started dating his GF when she was 16yrs old, seven years ago- so he was 33?
Money talks.
