Payara for a 125?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
no way to avoid the sudden death situation. I just would not miss an opportunity to raise a fish due to a common death at a large size... IMO most fish will not see their 10year birthday party Lol.

I see. How long will i have to wait with a 3" scomb before it could go in with a 7.5" odoe, if that is what happens? 4" ID sharks can live in my tank without harm, the pike would swim really fast then turn an inch away from them and swim off, and he even stopped that after 2-3 hours.

Any payara except an armatus would be fine, you'll need to get a decent sized one to start with because they are pretty slow growers. Watch the odoe for agrression esp twords other characins in a 125 there should be room, if there is any agressive add some dithers right away. Watch that goby to its the fish you should be worried about eating the payara

Odoes have pretty good sized teeth that come do a good amount of damage quickly. Payaras can be very skidish and eazyily bullied when young and new to a tank. Try some large barbs or silver dollars for dithers
