Nah, i ordered online! Did not pick out the fish. Talk about L-U-C-K-Y in big flaming hollywood size letters! Kinda skittish right now, does it lose this with age (size) or are they one of those that are always like that?
No, they get aggressive with age. Mine kicks all my other fish's asses. He's brutal. It's the most aggressive characin I've ever owned, including GATF. What are the tankmates and sizes?
Right now hes with 3 scombs. They are in a 75gal tank, temps 82f, filters are 2 of the largest size hydrosponge being run by 300gph powerheads. Would put him in a bigger tank but i have to put some size on him first so he dont get eatin!
Anytime i go by the tank, the armatus kinda panics. The scombs arent even bothered but the armatus spooks real easy. Is this normal? Maybe just getting used to the tank. Sorry, kinda paranoid with it right now!
That seems to be typical Characin behavior. From the videos Ive seen of r1's armatus and the video of the monster armatus Li made I suspect they chill out with age.

get some more pics. mine is still a little skiddish but geting better and definatly more agressive. he pushes away anyone in his territory which is almost half the tank. more pics, more pics!!

dude he looks just like mine did a few weeks ago, now mine is already 8''. be careful he dosnt eat ur other fish. mine is getting very agressive twards my scombs and i think hes about to finish one of them off. the ick is doin ok he must have got it from the feeders. take lots of pics when hes small he wont be small for long. try to keep him with other fish though so in the future he dosnt need his own tank
Got it! Collecting all the fish for my dream tank in the living room. The payara was the final piece! Hopefully he doesnt get to aggressive. Gonna put him with an aro, ATF, endi bichir, and a couple rays. hope it all works out! I'll take some better pics and post them later!
