Any ideas on how to make him less skittish. Anytime i go near the tank he starts rubbing against the glass tryin to get out. Anyway to stop this? Dont want his nose to get damaged.
Bigger tank. My Raphs did this. They were only 6 inches and in a 75. Kept going up in size till 125 gallon. They where good for a while. Now 8 inches and in a 180. I personally wouldn't keep even the smallest ones in anything less than a 125.

Just give him time. It may even take 2-3 weeks. Mine was very skittish when I first got it at 6" but now at 11" he will charge me when I walk by the tank. They are not a skittish fish at all once they are comfortable. Very nice/lucky pick up. I would give him the biggest tank available to you. I started mine in a 125 and have moved to a 240 now.
He is solo right now but will be joined soon by a couple stingrays. I had him in a 300 gallon with dats and some other fish. I think you can keep them with other semi agressive fish that are similar size. He would charge at my fish a lot but never do any damage. He did swim around with a 5" dat in his mouth for a few minutes until I rescued him. He didn't mess with the larger dats. The only reason I moved him into his own tank is because I am attempting at weening off live food. Feeding 250-300 goldfish a week just for him to get his fill was getting old. You will thoroughly enjoy him once he gets completely comfortable. They are a bad ass fish.
yeah mine is getting a little too comfortable. he is starting to push the other guys around. no fights yet, but the only one that relly holds his ground is the atf and its funny cause hes half his size
