I can't decide which one I want to get. The payara would most likely be a scomb until i can get enough money for a real one, lol. I like the pikes also. Do either of them make good tankmates? Growth rates for them? They will be in a 150. I can get either at 3", thank you.

They both are nice, but if I was to choose. I'd take the odoe...when they attack their prey, its striking fast like lightning!!! hardly misses either...but if you got the money, I'd go brycon dentex :D

i love my Scomb he is a great fish to have and im not sure what hes talking about but my payara is one heck of an attacker he is lightning quick and hes got a cocky personality he likes to let part of a feeder hang out of his mouth a little and show off unless theres more feeders in his tank! but i bought mine at 3" and is a little over 4" now but they are slow growers!

I vote Odoe. I don't really know much about Scombs. My Odoe has had a very quick growth rate, has awsome color, scales, teeth, and hits food very quickly (mostly market shrimp). He is also great with Cichlids and Bichirs.

Here is a pic of him:

Wow, he's a nice one man. So they grow pretty quickly? I think that would help in my tank... especially if they do get along w/ cichlids as well. How big is he?

a LPS in Gastonia, NC.. the guy ended up lowering price to $35:D but it is the nicest fish store ive been to so far its called WETPETS!

I got him last November at around 4" inches. Now he is probably 9"-10" or so. He grew probably 1-1.5 inches a month for a while, but has slowed down. Here is the pic of him in Nov:
