90 gal is a good Payara growout tank if you can upgrade in 6mo. to a year max, 90 gal is a good 11.5" Oscar tank, 90 gal is a good community tank for a Red Wolf w/ non aggressive tankmates. The combonation of the 3 is not good at all - the Oscar will eat the entire food supply, the red wolf would stress if not eat a payara half his size.

If your buddy just got a 90gl, chances of him getting a 300gl or bigger with in the next year are doubtful... So IMO, Armatus or Red Tail Tat are out the Question.
Ery Ery is a wise choice for that tank size. Aggressive eaters like an Oscar is not a good tankmate at all though. He will most likely eat the wolf

Myself, I would never get a wolf, but I love payara.
But for a 90 gallon, there aren't really any payara that could live it's full life in a tank that small.
A ray would need much more of a foot print as an adult; however I have been researching around here and the common consensus is that polypterus should work with him as long as he cant fit it in his mouth. Make sure you keep to the upper jaw species of polys though.
