Pbass and NLS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry guys i have tried alot of different Brands Hikari is the best period the food is specie specific and as result works!!!!!In the end Good is not cheap and Cheap is not good!!!!That's just my Opinion...

How long did you guys try to wean them on to NLS? And ONLY offer NLS? That's the only way I've been able to get a stubborn fish on it (few and far between for what I keep but it happens). Funny thing is now that those fish do eat it, they hit it harder than almost all the other fish I have.

I have fed the stuff to cichlid and corydoras fry, adult corydoras, plecos, other catfish, dwarf SA cichlids, wild Satanoperca and other larger SA cichlids, CA cichlids big and small, tetras, barbs, loaches, knifefish... Know people that feed it to cichla, rays, bichirs, arowana, datnoids, discus, etc etc.

I have the same size nls pellets and had the same problem. And the answer I found is that your pellets are too big for your bass. The pellets are too hard for the bass and nls is supposed to be swallowed whole not chewed unlike massivoure. I switched back to the 6mm pellets and they went right back to happily taking the pellets. My 16 inch kelberi is the only fish that will take the bigger pellets and eat them

I think that sums things up well. In the past one of the mods here on MFK converted his bass to the NLS 10mm pellets with no issues. I think the phrase that he used was that they scarfed them back like a fat kid eating M&M's. :) But his pbass were all larger fish, 16-18" I believe.

Keep in mind that in commercial aquaculture, 10-12mm pellets are used to feed 6-8+ foot sturgeon. If your pbass are under 16" I wouldn't even attempt to feed them a 10mm pellet.

its because there is no science behind NLS. its just a big turd pellet.

That must be why some of the most prestigious public aquariums in North America feed it to their fish, including Charles Delbeek M.Sc., senior biologist at the Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco. Perhaps their level of understanding of all this dietary "science" stuff isn't as advanced as yours?

There's actually a long list of public aquariums that have been feeding NLS for many years.

It's also the only food that I'm aware of that has been used in studies performed by 3rd party accredited institutions as the control diet in HLLE/HITH studies, due to it's nutrient levels exceeding most/all other commercial products on the market.

You don't rise to that kind of a level in the aquatics industry without being at the top of your game.

My bass are around 6 inches. The issue is they tend to ignore the smaller foods since they're used to.massivore. Thought I'd use NLS as my salt fish love it and it has done wonders. My dats love the NLS. Ill keep trying and see what happens. Might have to go back to massivore. Was hoping to save some money

The NLS 10mm pellets are waaaaay to big & dense for a 6" cichla, no question about that. Seeing as you already have the food, I would take a hammer & break it up into smaller pieces, 3mm or so, and see how that goes. It worked for a friend of mine.

Agreed. Your pbass should have no problem taking it as long as they don't feel they don't have to chew it experiment with a few pellets at a time and break it down to what size is suitable

My 2 5 inch p bass eat the 3mm lrg fish formula. My l368 plecos seem to love it the most. They like it when it sits in the tank for a few mins first
