See if you can find a larger striped raphael, they're native to SA. My 8" girl does fine and the bass didn't bother her after a few test mouthings (she is made of plates and razors, you see).

Interesting looking fish! I really want a tig but dunno that I want to pay $300 for a juvie lol. I'll shop around for one of these guys and see whats out there. striped raphael doesnt really appeal to me to be honest... Nor do the geo's

Plenty of choices out there....I've used a vulture cat and a Juruense in the past...but pretty much any medium growing south american catfish that isn't overly aggressive will do.
