ocellaris
you must understand that the variation between patterning varies greatly depending on country and river local the fish was caught in...cichla vary emensely and patterning changes depending on age of the fish...basically you cannot judge by a photo but rather know the determining factors of the species,,,,,yours is clearly an ocellaris due to the occelli on the top of the 3rd bar...showing red eye(common in all pbass depending on mood, but more often displayed in ocellaris), the dorsal cut to the posterior dorsal, head shape ect.....its an ocellaris

look at the tail of the monoculus and my fish, there identical, and the ocellaris has like a leapord like design on him. the monoculus has dark green like my fish

Oh ok thanks for clearing that up for me. however you gotta admit the monoculus judging by the patterns looks alot more like my fish. its crazy how similar they are.

The species name is supposed to be lower case and italic. Like this.

Cichla ocellaris
