c'mon guys anyone? im going spring march 23rd it going to be warm enough then? any good in shore fishing? honestly is there ANY fishing?

I am in south Miami and even on a reg yr when temps are normal PB don't hit to much Jan/Feb and March . Water temps drop to 70s or so depending on area and its usually not time anyone catch's any nor see them.
They are some heat loving fish.

April they start hitting by May to average Dec (slows down) they hit .
This coming yr very looks bleek.

Try Miami airport lakes. Its lots of lakes connected by canals and they seem to run warmer than other areas.

There are/were huge one's there but I have only caught mediums :irked:.

Last yr I was catching them till Dec than after cold spell I haven't gone back so don't know but again even in ideal yrs /Jan/Feb/March isn't best time for them .

Keep in mind I don't have a boat so fish off the bank . If you know someone with a boat still try Miami airport lakes as boat ramp there or if you get a guide which for this time of yr and how cold its been it might be your best bet..

Those guys truly know where to go.

The fish will be bedding soon. They should already be on the beds, but we've had another cold snap. By the time the 23rd rolls around, the bass should be off the beds but this year is going to be weird. Walk up and down the banks looking for any beds and work a lizard (salamander) across the bottom. Drop it in any beds that have fish in them. Simulate a salamander eating the fish eggs.

This yr will be horrible even tonight till Friday we are getting high 40s in area .

Yea, big decline in fishing, I've been having decent luck with largemouths still, just fish any canals you come across, they all hold bass, There are alot of canals in miami that hold alot of fish, pbass have died off and those living are real tranquil in these cold waters but Largemouths still hit, especially on warmer days, they become tranquil on colder days as well though. Don't do much saltwater fishing so that I couldnt tell ya. And if you really want pbass I wrote florida fish and game and they said pbass guides are still getting some, but even their numbers have dropped.

I went fishing yesterday and the eggs in some sunfish were still immature. They will be bedding extra late this year...and that means...
...they will be bedding when you get here.

Happy fishing.

Ummm... are we talking about fishing in general or just Pbass? I'm in Orlando and there aren't Pbass here. The fish in Central Florida haven't been impacted anywhere as badly as in South Florida. Tampa's inshore fishing is quite similar to Orlando's. (Are we still talking about fishing in the Tampa area?)

The grouper would have tasted fine without seasoning. :D

Totally surprised about the banded rudderfish. In the past, we just threw them back or used them for cut bait. I'll have to give them a try next time.

Banded rudders are great fish to eat actually, and on light tackle put up a good fight. Caught a few when i went to PCB delisious ceviche and soup

"The fish in Central Florida haven't been impacted anywhere as badly as in South Florida."

Thats what those I know who fish here tell me. Why is that considering over all it has been warmer here than central florida?
