what kinda mono? sebae or argentus. I think they look great as adults both of them.
cichla, peackock bass :)

from what i've read monos really slow down about 18" in captivity (those who own them chime in to correct me if i'm wrong) so i'd think you would be ok with 2 but then again im just going off what i've seen on here before i've never owned them

the thing is i think this will be my largest tank.. 7ft x 2 x 2 i am goin to build it into the wall in my basement...( its as big as tank i could convince my wife on) lol... so i wonder how many i can put without upgrading or is this not possible?

Are you building the actual tank? If so, is it possible to change the depth to 30" rather than 24"? This way IMO you wouldn't have to worry about upgrading ever.

Get 2-3 Orinos imo. They grow really slow, I've had my rio metas since the beginning in early Feb and they are in the lower middle of the pack size wise. They were the biggest at one point.

I applaud you for trying to get this right before you start. Most people start with a 55 gallon and say that they will upgrade when the time comes. Whether they do or not is a different story. These fish are for sale as adults all the time b/c they outgrow their tanks. Read through the threads and you will see that there are quite a few tanks out there smaller than yours. Good Luck!

Thanks... well for one i dont want to deal with trying to find a LFS or another person an get rid of the fish.. plus you get attached an dont wanna give up yoru fish!.. plus ive been fishkeeping since i was like 8 years old so i know its not fair to the fish either ... just like when i see people with like 5 10in oscars in a 55 gallon.... its crazy yea i want to do it right an not have to worry about "upgrading" or gettin rid of my fish
