I have 3 tems and 2 monos in a barebottom, and I want them to color or darken in color. My friend and I bought the tems together and his tems are dark green with spots all over the place. Mine however are light green with about 50% less spots than his. The tank conditions are exactly the same, temp, barebottom, food, water conditioner. We basically have the same tank. Please advise. Thanks.

I'm sure someone smarter than me will chime in but what about different tank mates or food?

I have 2 monos to go along with the 3 tems, i feed them feeders and f/d shrimp

what danh said... nitrates? ph? ammonia? maybe a darker substrate may help and your tem will eventually develop more spots over time

Im having the same issue... i have three monos together in the same tank... but only two are nicely colored up with black spots and speckles... and the other one isn't colored as nicely.

Pictures?
Sizes?
Foods?
Backgrounds?
Please give more info along with the questions above and the questions asked above mine;)

the tems sizes are 7 5 4 inches and the monos are both 4 inches. i have a black background with a bare bottom. like i said i feed them feeders and f/d shrimp.
