i JUST lost my 2 mono's..literally..like 2 minutes ago..they showed the same symptoms...

what are you water parameters? and what are you feeding them?

water params are fine..ph 7, am 0, nitrite 0, and nitrate 20....temp is 86 and im feeding them dry shrimp mostly...

I would add more air. It's strange that the one is still fine but when this happens usually the water doesn;t have enough o2 in it and you need more surface agitation.. so make sure your water level is low enough that your filter is making agitation.

Ok just lowered the water so the powerhead is above it and the filter is splashing even more...honestly i dont think the two are going to make it....one of them has some white stuff on the gill now and both have reddening on the base of the fin behind the gil...almost looks bloody...the one tem is still fine though and all the other fish...oh and also the eyes look kinda sunken in...help please!!

sounds like a mix of extreme lack of oxygen, an extreme amount of ammonia. How long ago was the last water change before this, and did you remember to use water conditioner?

i think it might have been the oxygen thing...last water change was about a week and a half ago.....yea i also used water conditioner...Can they recover from this???

It depends on how long you let them go before working on it. I would do another water change, add an airstone, and make sure your aren't whipping the surface into a crazy tornado which could stress the fish.

Well i noticed it last night and began working on it then...but went to sleep and just did the rest this morning...i'll keep trying though thanks for the help...

I added another established filter to help with surface agitation...what else can i do?? doesnt look too good but i dont want to lose them...

essentially not a whole lot I don't think.. I've had similar problems when overdosing meds in a tank but I quickly resolved it at the first signs of a problem.
