pbass Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what i was most amazed by when my pbass were tiny was that they would stuff themselves and their bellies would be as big as they are, and in the morning i would come out and their bellies would be flat again and they would be visibly bigger.

don't over feed them, but feed them till their bellies are noticably full. with the temp above 85 degrees. you'll notice real growth real fast.

don't rush it though.. Orinos are slow growing pbass. Monos and ocellaris on the other hand are not, they grow FAST. you can probably just feed everybody normally and in a few weeks your new mono will be the same size as your orinos..

happens every time with tems, they grow amazingly fast, my 'little' guy is quickly getting bigger than the ocellaris he shares his tank with. if he doesn't slow down or something he is going to be the odd guy out and have to be in a tank by himself till he's big enough to go in with the big guys.

thank you everyone for your help
i will start all of this 2marro first i gotta scrape up some money for a few dozen rozies to put in the small feeder tank and i think im running low on frozen blood worms i think i got the hikari ones but i still got alot of pellets and shrimp lol

Is krill more than blodworms down there..

Mysis shrimp could help too ;)
I also fed mine solid frozen brine.

for the sanfran bay frozen krill 1lb pack i think its like $20 but the freeze dried krill is a bit pricey for like a small thing of it $12 and its gone in like a few days
for the hikari frozen bloodworms its like $5 a pack

i'm paying $28 for 2 lbs of frozen bloodworm cubes from SF Bay Brand. and i think 1 lb of frozen krill is costing me $16 or is it $18?

anyway.. that's close. fortunately i only need to buy them about every other month.

Try feeding him twice a day and the orinos once. He should be ok in a month or two. I caught my tems up pretty quick when I had to.

you gotta remember tho tems grow quick...my tems started half the size of my mono...not they are nearly double his size and its only been about 3 months...

Youre on the right track, if they are eating pellets allready youre lucky. My wild Orinos wont touch pellets. They will eat just about anything else I put in there, but they wont even mouth a pellet. They still dont see them as food I guess. Im seeing awesome growth feeding smaller meals, 3 times a day. With the temp. at 86 their metabolism is flying, and multiple small feedings boosts that as well. Variety helps alot. I feed bloodworms. glassworms, market shrimp, frozen krill, live ghost shrimp, and rosies. They only get live once a week, and they are growing like crazy. Ive figured out how to trick them with pellets though. I crush them into a powder, then I take small pieces of market shrimp and roll it in the pellet powder, then drop it in. That way I know they are getting a supplement of vitamins and quality nutrition. ;)

A good mixed diet, live fresh, and dry. Feeding twice a day. Bump the temp up a few degrees, and increase your water changes. Then let nature take its course.
