Hey. I am fascinated by these fish. This site doesnt help me not want to get one either.

I have a 100g tank right now, 72"x18"x18"

2 8" polys, a jardini arowana around 8", a synodontis around 8"

Looking for a few more polys, but am interested inwhether I could keep a Pbass or not? Filtration and money are not an issue, and within a year or two can upgrade tank size.

its a bit narrow for all those fish.. especially with the Jar there.. i dont know how well juvie pbass would go with an 8inch jar and some pollys.. and if you get a bigger pbass itll probably outgrow the width of your tank faster than you can upgrade IMO.

The only fish that would concern me is the Jardini. Jardini can become homicidal maniacs.

alright. i just wasnt sure if there were any smaller varieties.

The smallest variety would be cichla sp. intermedia which has a reported max size of 55cms.. however this sp. is pretty hard to get..

My jar right now is very calm, only fish he ever beat on was a pacu i had when he was in a 40 breeder (pacu has been given to aquarium!). I understand that when they grow they will get very very aggressive though.

lol intermedia are like impossible to get while small even big. plus they are $250+ at around 3" :/ i would wait to get a pbass till you get a bigger tank.

it doesnt matter if the jar is calm when cichla start to develop maturity they flare up and your jar will not be able to resist an attack.. jardinis and cichla i was always told end fatal and its usually never the jar that loses... i promise you one thing, if you start to keep cichla you will never miss the jar

So if I don't move the jar over to the 100G, would i be able to keep a pbass or two in the 100? Only thing I plan on adding are a few more polys. You guys have me addicted.
