How many of you guys keep the engine running? I think it is definitely less stress on the fish especially bigger bass if the pump is not turned off. No jumping or smashing into the glass. Also it mixes the new water as you fill.

Couldn't agree with ya more ken. With my sump I cannot do that. I leave big power heads running. They have an airline hooked to them so they blow bubbles all throughout the tank.

I always drain and fill at the same time, just do a longer water change to make sure I get a good amount of new water in and old water out.

I do it the same thing but only after50% is already drained. I would worry that the new water would mix with the old

Same here, I keep the canisters running unless I have to change more then 50% (past the intakes), and when I do have to change more then 50% I keep the canisters running as long as I can, as soon as the new water covers the intakes at around 50% I turn them right back on.

Powerhead is at the top of the tank, so I have to shut that off.
