pbass tank water change

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i always was curious about this myself too..... i shut my heaters, and canister off and the powerheads that are up top during a water change usually once the water level reachs them parts.... reason i do this is cuz i always thought the chlorine in the new water and "bad" stuff would kill off the BB in your filters and etc ... someone correct me if im wrong

As soon as I start adding water from the hose into the tank during a 50% change I add Prime, I follow directions and treat the entire tank with prime since I am adding water directly into the tank. So on my 90-gallon I use 2 capfulls.

Ya mixing is always going to happen that's why I keep the drain on one slide new water on other and let it go for a good while longer then you would really need, I probably change over double the actual tank when I do it.

I do it the same thing but only after50% is already drained. I would worry that the new water would mix with the old

I backwash/drain to a mark on the tank which I calculated to be 75g. Once done, I add water back in from a hose and add powder Chloram-X. I do worry that the incoming new water will harm biological and/or fish.

I too keep the engine running ken, but since I have so many tanks up and running I go through a ton of prime so I add one capful of prime and mix in a 44 gallon rubbermaid container then pump into the aquarium so on the big tanks 88 gallons of water 2 times a week.
