Hi,

I got myself 3 PBB over the past 2 years from a friend and was happy with my purchase. However when I post 1 of them on another forum for ID, I got a shock. It was said to be more of a Lap due to the number of finlets on the back and the lack of whiteness to distinguish them apart.

I would like to know if this fellow is a PBB as 2 of them have 14 finlets and the recent purchase has 16 finlets.

Both Laps and PBB looks similar in some ways and I find it difficult to tell them apart. How do we distinguish them apart? What are the traits to look for other than the finlets on the back? Another thing how do we count the finlets on the back? Will post them when I can get better pictures of them.

looks like nigerian bullet-head type lapradei, in my opinion, at least.

Yeah, I thought so too. Ornate of AF here:)

Why not post some pics of your recent acquisition - the one with 16 finlets? We may be able to better point out the difference between the 2 specimens.

what ever it is, I want one, looks monster to me

Hi.
Will put my 2 yens worth here too!
As I said in the other forums, the lack of fin lets, patterning makes me think it's not a P.BB.
I stare at my 3 P.BB for many hours every day, and those you have pictured are just waay too different.

Here is one of mine again, for comparison:
