I trimmed my peach tree last weekend...I used some of the branches for christmas-wreath like ornaments decorated with lights....Is it safe to use peache tree branches in my Amazon setup????
Thanks

I dont see why not, but dont quote me! Depends in my mind if the tree was ever treated with a pesticide... I would just soak the tree in a hotttttt tub or a bucket for a week, then change the water, and put it in some boiling water after that.... hot temps should kill off whats bad... sorry i couldbt be any more help... I however do just walk up my riverbanks and beaches and find my own driftwood.. i like how it turned out..

Heres a few pics of the wood i collected for my convict breeder tank. I think it looks good, and saved a bunch of money. i have since added alot more rocky caves for my fish!

if you only cut the branch last week I would wait awhile since the sap could take a long time to dry out. just boil it again and again....once the water remains clear after a boil I would then place it into the tank.

if you do place the branch into the tank before that, pay close attention to your water chem bro.!

hey, how about some updated pics???

Howdy,

Never use fresh wood for aquarium use. It still contains too much decomposable material. If you want to harvest your own wood, go to a creek and look for well-weathered wood without bark.

Yeah...I'll skip on the "fresh wood" and stick to good ole' Pacific beach combing.....Gotta say though, the piece I have sitting on top of my 180 adds a sorta of outside-rainforest feel....Happy Holidays
