Do not get a RTC.....

i have had both living together for a while, but thats about it .... eventually the peacock will outgrow payara, and most likely bully him a bit ... i've had both trained on frozen food, however not only does the peacock grow faster, but also will eat much more, thus makingthe growth rate problem worse. i'd say cool for a year, maybe 2 but in most cases, the bass will outgrow, and outcompete, and finally possibly eat the payara. I'd say H. Armatus has a better chance, since they are more aggressive and get bigger and are less tentative, but i still think the peacock wins .... as with anything however, you never truly know until you try, but the odds are def stacked against the payara

Do not get a tedtail. If you do beware I lost 4 fish in one night to my rtc. I'm not tryin.g to control you but I want what's best for yo and your fish. And plus I am o.ky 14 and I started the same way you did from fishing.g for lmb. I have saved and now jave a 210 and my bass are great. But with the payara, great fish Nd fin to watch. It's all one the personality of the fiah you get.

I have a Payara and an african tigerfish in with 3 Monos, an azul and a kelberi and it is doing great. It is a pain sometimes to feed him, although now that he is eating anything frozen its a big help. The problem is getting past the hungy peacocks to let him get the food. I have just finished setting up a larger tank though and the peacocks will be going in there tonight to leave the payara and the tigerfish alone.
