In a correct dosing it can treat ick very effectively. You don't even need aquarium salt, use can you table salt which is a lot cheaper.
I would not treat bass with table salt. You can use it on your hybrids, but table salt isnt the best way to go with cichla.
Seems a little uncalled for. Theres nothing wrong with treating with tablesalt assuming you get the right kind.
Never personally treated Cichla with it but I have treated many CA/SA Cichlids and many nonCichlids like Tetras and Livebearers with it and never lost a fish. I used noniodized Tablesalt that doesn't contain Yellow Pressurate. Theres no point paying 10x the price if its not necessary.
I added the appropriate amount of salt two days ago and turned up the temp and added air stones to my tank. How long should I wait before I do a water change. I need some follow up advice ASAP!! PLEASE REPLY

Hey brother. When I have treated for ich, it is advisable (in my opinion) to continue doing the salt & temp treatment for three weeks. You want to make sure all the free swimming parasites are eradicated. This is no problem for cichla as they prefer higher temps & the salt will have little detriment to their health. Do water changes as you would normally. Once a week 40% to 50% -- unless you have a high bio-load and a 2x/week water change is called for. Only replace the amount you take out. So if you take out lets say 25gallons, only put salt for 25 gallons -- no more as salt stays in the water column and does not "dissipate".
Also, once you no longer see "grains of salt" on the fish, that DOESN'T mean the ich is gone. Continue to treat. Best of luck.
Is the ick gone?. Now is probably a good time for WC just to keep the water prestine. I would continue the treatment for a week or two because the ick still exist in the water.
