Got home from work today to discover that my xingu peacocks have laid eggs! Theydid a rather poor job of getting them all in the same place but oh well...

I personally would lay a large piece of slate at the bottom for next spawn.

I'm not really interested in trying to raise the spawns, since I really don't have the tank space for baby cichla, but maybe someday!

Are the eggs brown? My bass just spawned for the first time a month ago and I’m raising the fry right now. It’s not as hard as you think but is quite a bit of work hatching and feeding baby brine. I have about $50 invested in the fry tank. I know you said your not into raising the fry but you are fortunate to have them spawn, it’s rewarding seeing the fry actually survive and grow.

They are not mouthbrooders (at least these were not), although evolution has a way of evolving, and spawns can be huge.

Awesome, did you do anything special? only have the pair in there? I'd love to some day breed them
