Peacock Bass Spawning

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks mate. I agree, Monster has been a great help, much appreciated Will get some more pics up when they are hatched. I realise that this is only the start of successfully raising them though haha

well its all looking good, eggs are starting to hatch and there looks to be very little infertile ones.

cheers

The dark ones are actually hatched little fish. Can't see the tails waggling in the photo. White ones are the infertile/dead ones

Thanks Monster. Pretty happy about the hatch rate too, especially seeing it was the pairs first spawn. Yes we did use Meth Blue but removed them from that about an hour before the first ones started to hatch - about the 65hr mark (estimate). Before I took the eggs from the parents I filled two tanks using water from the parents tank - one for the meth blue the other clear water. Kept them at the same temp so the transfer across was fairly easy.

Brilliant Steve!! You da man, and congrats on your successful hatch brother, steller job too being your first hatch!! I'd treat your male with a few big fat live feeders bro for being a flat stud!! My male is a dame slacker in comparison and I can only count on about half the females eggs being fertilized...lol But he is pushing 6 years old and as far as I'm aware they don't make viagra for fish yet... look forward to seeing those swimmers!!

Thanks Monster and Redbellypiranha. Will put a picture up once the babies are up and about. Thanks for all the help.
Steve
