That "There a ruby red and strawberry / blueberry hybrid" AKA peacock fire fish - is just a nasty piece of work. Changing tank decor is not going solve anything.
The only thing that sorts them out is a larger more aggressive cichlid. I have a full grown Stuartgranti that keeps mine in line most of them time.
I was just about to get rid of him when my Stuargranti took over dominance of the tank and things settled down from there.
