Peacock Eel Feeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I snagged this tank for $75 on craigslist with the stand, canister filter, light, glass cover, and decorations. Couldn't say no! Just had to buy substrate, filter medium and a heater. Once the angels get full sized I'm going to upgrade to something bigger or give away one or two as needed. It's a 55 tall so there's a bit more space for the angels. They're only about 1" right now so we've got time.

I need to upgrade the light bar from a single flourescent bulb to a nice LED so I can get better plant growth for the eel and angels to hang out in. Right now there's a big clump of tall grass they all enjoy but I want some low ground cover and more grasses/swords for everyone to hang out in. Maybe some duckweed or other surface cover to filter a little of the light so it's not too much for the eel. We shall see! I've got my old 10 gallon cycling now as an isolation/sick tank since the angels keep snacking on the eels worms and over eating like dorks. Already had to isolate one and keep him from food for two days until his belly emptied so we're working on a system to get everyone fed without the angels eating themselves to death.

Thanks for all the tips and advice by the way, very much appreciated. I've been out of the fish keeping game for about 10 years and I'm a bit rusty and things have changed quite a bit since!
