Peacock Setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I figured I would have to add to my filtration setup. Also, any ideas on preventing tank cloudiness without chemicals? Any special media? No fish yet and over the past couple of days it has gotten significantly cloudier... Possibly too much light on the tank? Hmmm...

I better sell some of my guitars to free up all the cash for the extra equipment! But seriously, i think adding another FX5 would be in my best interest. Any other filters you know of that can provide quality bang for buck?

fx5 would be fine. your tank is probably cloudy still because it is cycling. it will clear up. make sure to do your water changes and you should be fine

i would use 3x 300 watt heaters

I have 2x 300 watt heaters in my 300 gal and thats fine-along with 2x fluval fx5s, a 75 gal powerhead, and 100 gal wisper airpump-maybe a little overkill, but there is nice movement, and sufficient air in the water =)
As for the cloudyness...thats just your water cycling, if I remember correctly, it took my 300 gal 1 month to be fully cycled!
Have you tested your levels yet?

GL, and nice tank!

put that overflow to use and add a sump. When it comes to cichla....more filtration the better.

As far as buying cichla monster fish keepers buy/sell is the way to go in my opinion and if not you can talk to people in your area and they would know whats around in the lfs.
