i keep them together and they live fine together, but i only have two mbunas (yellow lab and an afra) with my peacocks and haps. the yellow lab keeps to himself and the afra swims all around not really bothering anyone. you just need to provide enough rock work and enough open water for both. i keep about 1/4 of my tank devoted to a network of caves and the other 3/4 for open swimming.
