the female is in my avatar. I miss my male...he was around 10" at the time of his death. :( the female is doing fine though and is in my 125 with a similar sized male red devil, 3 smaller bifasciatus and several bottom feeders. the female festae owns one half of the tank (she allows the catfish and bichirs in her half, but not any other cichlid). well, I take that back because I just did some tank rearranging. the male red devil is new to the tank (he was in with them once before but I moved him out) and he and the female festae have actually been pretty close together since I put him back in. I moved out my male zonatus and female heterospilus who have spawned together in a smaller tank (free feeders :grinyes: ).

like PP said, festae are highly aggressive and require a large tank. they'll need a very large tank if you want to keep them with other cichlids. :grinyes:

yeah careful what ya wish for. My female has taken out 3 fish but now is cool with everyone else exce[t for her space.
But they do look seriuosly badass. Thats everyones favorite when they see it.
they do look really cool.

amazing fish full of personality I keep my female with my flower horn and green texas cichlid in my 300g ever sence her breeding partner jumped to his death:( but they all do realy will with each other

Careful dude....Red Terrors really are aggressive cichlids...haha. They are often kept as single fish tankz and the like...they can own a tank easily. If you can handle that, go for it. They are pretty common though, so you should be able to find some. Mayan cichlids are underrated though, don't get enough credit, they are just as awesome!
:iagree: I have a female urophtalmus, and love her. She's beautiful and has lots of personality too. Here's a pic of her:

If anyone who reads this post has some true RT's please PM me. I am on the east coast and will gladly pick up the fish. or make appropriate arrangements for shipping.
There is a store in a suburb here in Philly (Upper Darby) that has both urophtalmus & festea. I've kept both together & both have a cool personality. as stated the best way to tell is the tail ocelli & bars. but also festea tend to be a darker reddish color urothals. yellowish/gold at least all the ones I've kept. Jeff Rapps (Tangled Up In Cichlids is right in NJ. he has a lot of interesting species.

great looking uro too bastered.
