Yeah. True pikes as in Crenicichla. Not Snakeheads if that's what you were thinking.

Peanut Power-do you use the salt all the time in your pike tanks? How come? What does it do?

I did a large water change last night, and didn't have any salt, so not this time no, but 80% of the time I do. I dunno, I did an experiement where I had the same species of pikes and cichlids in two tanks, then I had one as the control and the other as the test. I wanted to see if it really did lower the stress of the fish, improve their colors, fight disease, and overal help them live happier. I really did notice a difference in color, health, and lower stress levels in the tank WITH the salt. I did the test for about three weeks, just to be sure. Was pretty kewl, you should try it. Ever since then I have used salt in my tanks. Not too horribly much though! Max. i have ever used is 1 tablespoon per 3 gal....normally i do about 1 tablespoon per 10 gal.

R u using table salt, or marine salt.

Marine Salt, or FreshWater Aquarium Salt that comes in the 'milk carton' containers...;). I would be a little nervous about using table salt, but i suppose you could. the FW Aquarium salt works great though, which is what i normally use. A large carton costs about $5 and lasts for about three weeks.

WTF??? Who edited my original post?

I ruined the fun and got jammed with someone editing my post....UNBELIEVEABLE!!!

You bought my last 3 lents on aquabid....

wow i really effed up that comment....I meant to say. "I dont use salt, if i do i only use a half dose of what should be done since i have a eavily planted tank..."
