Pearl Hybrids pics/tank set up..help w green water~

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yep, I feed my rays at 4 in morning before work with lights off. Come home in evening and turn lights on for 4-5 hours and feed a second time. If you are leaving direct lighting on for 10 plus hours a day you will more than likely have algae problems, If not blooms at least on glass and and decor.

Something to think about... Your water has high protein levels... 8-10 hrs light should be ok as most of us have lights on for that long. However the excess protein from food, etc. makes the water green faster. To fix this.... More water changes... means more work for u... or upgrade to a more efficient filtration system/bigger tank. installing a UV would work, but I consider more of a patch to address the green water, but not the other potential issues.

Seachem Purigen is also supposed to work well for green water. Lights would be the easiest fix though.

Thanks for advice guys. And I think I stated that its a 144 half circle, not a 46g bowfront btw. I'm planning to get one of the canister filters on ebay with built in UV sterilzer
