My crib
Hi all,

I did a search and didn't come up with anything so here we go. I'm thinking of getting a pearl pup and have a few questions.
- how big do they get (male and female)?
- what's their temperament compared to say a Leo?
- I've seen some amazing pics of adults but pups look somewhat faded, what should I look for in a pup to ensure a nice mature ray?
- what's their scientific name?

Anything else I should know about would be appreciated.

Thanks

From what I heard, size wise they are similar to Motoros.
They are more aggressive then Leo.
It is best to pick lighter color pups as they will tend to get darker as it grows

Hope this helps

Gorgeous ray Scott. What's the duration of time between the two pics?
How big is he/she now?
At what size did the nice colors come in?

Thanks

I have one pair of Pearls that are as large as my old pair of Marble motoro's, female been 19" disc, male 15-16", all the others are somewhat smaller.
Some of my Pearls are 5 years + old and they are still changing their patterns.
I haven't found them to be aggressive and I have rather a lot of them, sometimes slightly more nervous than other Potamotrygon but that's all.

These and Marbles are my favoured Stingrays due to their diverse patterns, love the blackies and indeed the contrast in any aquarium is startling when kept side by side but when your looking at your rays day in day out I find intricate patterns with colour are more interesting than black and white.

Nice Pearl Scott, its going to go through many changes still before its the finished product, the marbling is very clear an crisp, a good trait to have in a Pearl.

About 10 months between pics. Color started coming in around 7" or so. She's around 9" now. Thanks all.
