Hello. I am new here. Most of you may had already visited freshwaterstingray.nl. It had a species profile for the Pearl ray. There is one variant that I am interested in. According to Mr. Ziljmans its called the Crocodile Pearl and its the rarest variant. My question is, how rare is this variant as compared to other Pearls? Like if you get 10 pearls, how many are light ones? And what is the price for Pearls?

the pearls rays on franks i purchased and sold 1.5yrs ago and i think it is near imposable to find pearl rays now as their was always a low amount of pearl rays shipped out

good luck with your hunt

Pearls are 100% banned unless a quota is issued for them
There is now a photo of a Pearl ray at every IBAMA inspection station at every airport in Brazil.
They are serious about stopping the smuggling of these.

The good news: the Shedd aquarium had some pearl pups a couple of weeks ago
:)
banned that sucks....

I've seen lighther rays turn dark in matter of months and the other way around. The crocodile is very rare I've seen only 3 in the last 5 years. I think their are more in Japan and Taiwan. I'm glad to say their is quid a lot of breeding of pearls going on at the moment. A friend of mine over 50 pups last year.
And one other thing. I'm not Mr Zijlmans but just Frank :)
Regards
Frank

Frank does pearls breed easy like motoros?

last time i spock to frank he said they breed easy but it was very hard to keep the pups alive for some reason

Thank you very much for your replies. Seems like there is no way I can ever get one except if I come across a captive bred Pearl :( I just hope that I will be lucky enough to come across one.

It's not that hard to find captive bred Pearl if you're in Thailand.

Hi Jubsy, do you know anybody from Thailand that breeds Pearls? Would very much appreciate your help. Thanks.
I don't know them personally but there are at least 3-4 people that breed Pearl. I said somewhere here that one breeder, a long time wholeseller of aquarium fish, has 10 grown female pearls that give about 20 pubs in the last 5 weeks. I have one small male pearl and waiting for the price to drop to get more female.. :naughty:
