I have heard that a Pearsi can reach up to 16''... mine is about 12''. Yes I am a believer that a Pearsi can maintain a place in a sorta slightly to mildly aggressive community. That listed you have and depending on size, may possibly end up in chaos. when I first got my Pearsi it skinned the entire side of an oscar the same size. Then chased and tore/nipped the tail fins off a Gramodes and Carpintis. But presently it is the second in command of five other cichlids in the tank. It is a totally mellow fish...you dont bother it ... it wont bother you.
As far as sexing them... venting may be quickest and earliest way to go. Trying to net mine is not the challenge, its after netting he/she becomes a problem. A fish that size seems to spazz-out becoming uncontrolable without possibly hurting it.
Overall this is a great cichlid to have. Mine along with my oscar have become the center piece of the tank. I will admit I first wanted a Bocourti, but my Peasri has filled the spot.
