I've heard that pearsei are typically less aggressive than some other large central american cichlids (vieja, amphilophus). Would you say this is true based upon the behavior of your pair?

Yes its true! I have a male approx 7'' in length. Totally beautiful and out going.
When one of his tank mates decides to try and "size him up" he will stand up to them. EASILY holds his own. And when its all done he never trys to charge any of them.
