Pearsie & Heterospilus growth thread

I really like how they stay a manageable size as well. COTA has some but I've never ordered from them, do you have any experience with them? Was thinking about ordering them along with some Chuco Micropthalmus.

Im doing the same but with hrp instead of chuco

Nice choice, I almost bought some chuco's from the wet spot last year when they had some. I still want a pair of those.

I'm having some trouble finding any good information on the Chuco, do you know much about their sensitivity to water quality? From my research they should be okay with the Hets

Quick update on these two. Once the new tank is set up the het will get the 150 at that time im planning on adding some more along with some hrp.

Both looking really good, when is the new tank going to be ready

Dont know lol hopefully soon. Im guessing it should be delivered middle of February

I have kept both Chuco micropthalmus and C intermedium. I consider them fairly easy to keep as long as water quality is kept high. I had heard stories of micro bloating but did not find this to be the case with mine.
I tried to maintain fairly high current (running about 1000 GPH along the length of the tank, and kept nitrates between 2-5ppm with every other day water changes,
The micros were growing out in a 125 gal from @ 1" with similar size Ptychochromis sp tar antsy, and the intermedium were treated the same way in a 150 gal housed with Cinichthys bocourti until the intermedia spawned and I removed all but the pair.

micro above, intermedium below

I did not find either be overly aggressive in 6 ft tanks, with lots of current, and tank mates with different jaw structures, or body shapes.
I did not keep the 2 Chucos species together in the same tank.
Just for reference, below is P tarantsy that was housed with themicros

I have 5 heterospilus that I got from COTA. shipping wasn't that bad at all...he sent them priority and it did take 2 days to get them, but he packaged them so well there were no problems. The 2 videos below were taken pretty much right after I got them. There were some torn fins when I first got them but they healed up perfectly in about a week, if not less.

I just got new lighting for their tank so I'll try to get another video in the next day or 2.

Smh i hate the min order policy but you may have just put me over the edge how big are they ?
