Pearsie & Heterospilus growth thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So what are you feeding them? When I think small food I think frozen meaty things like baby brine shrimp - but I know these guys are veggie eaters.

Time for a photo / video update! :D

Yup brine shrimp, crushed flakes and eventually smaller omega one pellets then nls

They havent ate yet though. Pretty much still hiding under the dw. Some of them are real small like half an inch, and already bickering with eachother

They had a big event in their lives yesterday. ;)

I bet you could guess what I'm going to suggest to help them feel more comfortable. Floating plants! LOL... (Even if fake.)

A bit rusty over here. Its been a couple of yrs since ive had cichlids this small (between half inch and 1 inch) got them yesterday offered cruched flakes and brine shimp both have been ignored. Im sure this is normal and no signs of IP as im seeing a decent amount of poop. Still going to treat for it as i always do but at what point do we become concerned that they arent eating.

Tank is 40b with lots of dw

Me too. They should be very greedy at that age.
I would offer small live foods, most fish can't resist something that moves.Try live daphnia and crushed spirulina flake.

This is mine. I can still take the lid off, it's just tricky. I slide the glass piece out of the plastic piece (usually when gardening my plants. ;) )

But I also have rope fish and they are skinny little suckers, and I've read so many horror stories.

Hopefully others will chime in on what they think for your stock.

Excited for you!!!

At that size I would like to see them eat within about 72 hrs,

Thats what i felt too. Tank is bare bottom (painted back) maybe no substrate causing some amount of stress ?
